Non Hunters
With our Lodge in a central North Island location, Alpine Hunting offers non hunters access to some of the country's most visited destinations
For those who want to do some sightseeing while the hunters are hunting, here are the most popular day trips non-hunters enjoy:
Taihape is the closest town to the lodge (1 hour) so if you feel like a change of scenery we can take you in for a nice lunch and a spot of shopping..
Taupo township is set on a beautiful lake and you can visit Huka Falls, Huka Honey Hive, Arateatea Dam, souvenir shopping and great cafes, take a lake cruise to the Maori cvarvings, Day spa, Jet Boat trip, Lava Glass blowing gallery..
Napier is a town filled with Art Deco architecture in the middle of Hawkes Bay, one of New Zealand’s best wine regions so you can do a vineyard tour, wine tasting and lunch at world class wineries, sheepskin and souvenir shopping, Te Mata Peak lookout, Antique stores, day spas..
Mount Ruapehu.. Journey over waterfalls and ancient lava flows and take in the majestic scenery of Mt Ruapehu and its neighboring volcanoes on the Gondola which travels to NZ's highest dining experience, Knoll Ridge Chalet. The multi-storey eatery features something for everyone, from a quick grab and go snack to a brand new menu of contemporary cuisine, all overlooking the wonder that is Tongariro National Park.
We can also organise horse trekking, river rafting, fishing, day trips to the Forgotten World Railway Tour, bungy jumping, sky diving, skiing.. the list is endless!
One of the best things staying with us is that our lodge is situated smack, bang in the middle of the hunting area! Hunters don't have to travel to a location hours away only to be seen again after dark. Hunters get to enjoy the company of their non-hunting companions after the morning hunt when the smell of freshly baked muffins lures them into the kitchen.
Our Hunting Guides are more than happy to include non-hunters in the hunt as observers too. You will be well looked after and find ample photo opportunities!
Take a break from relaxing and get in touch with nature with the short nature walk around the lodge we call 'the ladies mile' which will get your heart rate going.
Our lodge has a very relaxed atmosphere and you will be tempted to stay and enjoy all the comforts of home complete with the company of Shane, Nicki and our friendly lodge staff. We often find non-hunters love to sit at the kitchen bench 'chillaxing' with the cook in our open plan kitchen, lounging around the lodge reading books and watching movies or kicking back in the Jacuzzi for an afternoon with a glass of wine.
Our favorite part of the day is cocktail hour when all our team and guests get together to enjoy a few pre-dinner drinks and fine New Zealand nibbles!
